a bundle of cards

I love making up bundles of these cards for people. I mount the matt prints on crisp watercolour paper, secure them with a cotton ribbon, and they come with lovely newly sourced recycled envelopes. They get wrapped up in tissue paper and string, and sent to you in the post.

Each one is a celebration of a moment. I hope they make people happy when they arrive.

Take a look at my range, and see prices below.

Drop me an email with details of how many you would like of each design, using their names to place your order: eg 5 x stardrift + 1 x shadows + 4 x purple haze

eavesdropping on celebrations

Last summer a lovely friend asked me if I would like to be the photographer at her parents 40th wedding anniversary. Although slightly anxious that I would do the event justice I said "yes please!" anyway, and I loved it. I felt the whole night like I was naughtily gatecrashing a great party - like I was the invisible camera fairy, that no one could see because I had a camera and was taking secret pictures! If I stopped taking photos, I might then suddenly be visible to all, my cover blown, or turn into a green frog or something, so I just kept on snapping all night long... just in case.

I had so much fun eavesdropping in on the celebrations, and as a gift for her parents, trying to capture the moments. Each member of the family then received a collection of photos on a CD, wrapped up, of course, in tissue paper and coloured ribbons. I just had to include these brilliantly defaced plants we saw when the party was over and we were heading home.... they made us laugh. A lot.

If you have a celebration where you would like an invisible photographer to capture moments for you.... please get in touch!

through the eyes of a child

I love this Pablo Picasso quote. It makes me wonder what makes a child a good artist. I think part of it is the time they take to notice things. They are nearer the ground. They see the details of life around them. Noticing lady birds on leaves, ants carrying a load on their backs, shells on the sea shore. I know some grown up children who are good at that too. I love being with them.

I love it when you spend time with children and get to see some of the world through their eyes. The eyes of discovery and wonder and simple joy. I travelled around New Zealand's south island with two children once, in a van. They helped me see things, to stop and notice. They are beautiful artists. I hope that photography takes me back to being a child like artist. I hope that taking photographs takes me back to that place of wonder.
